Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026
Early access: Aiko is still being developed and tested with a limited group. This policy describes the current parent-facing website and early-access service at a high level. We may update it as the product and infrastructure evolve.

1. Who we are

Atannur builds Aiko, a digital parenting companion designed to help parents and caregivers navigate everyday questions and decisions about children’s online lives. You can contact us at aiko@atannur.org.

2. Information we may process

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process contact details you provide, messages you send to Aiko, information you choose to share about your family or devices, product preferences, support requests, and technical information needed to operate and secure the service.

We aim to collect only information needed for the current interaction or an explicitly supported product function. We do not intend the current parent-facing service to be a hidden surveillance tool for children.

3. WhatsApp and other service providers

If you use Aiko through WhatsApp, your use is also subject to WhatsApp/Meta’s own terms and privacy practices. We may use third-party service providers to operate Aiko, including messaging, cloud hosting, artificial-intelligence, security and analytics services. Those providers may process information on our behalf as needed to deliver their services.

4. How we use information

  • To provide and improve Aiko’s responses and features.
  • To maintain the continuity of an early-access interaction when appropriate.
  • To research or verify information requested by a user.
  • To operate, secure, troubleshoot and evaluate the service.
  • To understand product usage in an aggregated or de-identified way.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

5. Memory and ongoing context

Some Aiko features may eventually remember useful family context. Persistent memory and proactive messaging are separate product capabilities and should not be assumed merely because you have started a conversation. Where these features are offered, we intend to provide appropriate notice and controls.

6. Children

The current parent-facing early-access service is intended for adults, parents and caregivers. Children should not independently use a parent’s private Aiko conversation or attempt to access private family information through it. Future child-facing experiences may have separate safeguards and notices.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may share information with service providers that help us run the service, where required by law, or where necessary to protect the security and integrity of the service and its users.

8. Retention

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate product, security or legal needs, or as otherwise communicated to users. Retention practices may become more specific as the service moves from supervised early access to production.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the stage of the service. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Your choices

You may contact us to ask questions about your information or to request correction or deletion where applicable. Some information may need to be retained for security, legal or operational reasons.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Aiko changes. The date at the top will show the latest revision.
